Happy Turtle Dreams

The travel companions in our tipi home.

We arrived Tuesday night at our lovely first WWOOFing location, Turtle Dreams in Groton, NY. It is a beautiful family-run B&B, organic farm (including two dairy goats!), and campground with 4 full-size tipis, one of which is our home. The owners, Fran & Paul, have 3 children (and one more on the way), 3 dogs & 3 cats. Paul is a storyteller who tells wordless creation stories on the didgeridoo, which he learned from Aborigines in Australia. Yesterday was sunny & in the 80's and we worked our butts off raking rocks out of a new garden bed all day. We work 6 hours a day to earn our food & tipi. Last night we took a short trip into Ithaca, only 20 minutes away. I lived in this haven of a town for my college years, so it has a very special place in my heart. It is essentially the same hippie-centric, culturally-aware, good-vibe place I remember.

We rock at haulin' rocks.

I'm so glad your trip has started off so nicely, Rachael! I look forward to periodically checking up on you via the net.

Oh, and I'm SO jealous of the tipi.
